How To Speak Hip.

Chicago: Mercury Records, nd. (1970), a reissue of the original 1961 release. Stereo LP record (SR-61245), printed white label promotional copy.

A hilarious comedy album (Brent plays Geets Romo, a hipster who guides Close, the square interviewer, through the basic lexicon of hip), and reportedly one of Brian Wilson’s favourites during his “Pet Sounds” period.

The accompanying “Hip Manual” (6pp. [rather than the cover-advertised 8pp.]), cites “Naked Lunch”, Evergreen Review, and albums by Lord Buckley as “supplementary reading and listening”. Del Close, future light show man for the Grateful Dead, went on to host the ‘Lysergic a Go Go’ happenings in Los Angeles in 1965.

Disc excellent in slightly rubbed, Very Good plus sleeve.
