Front cover photograph by Ann Charters, who also produced the recordings of Ginsberg “singing and accompanying himself on the Benares harmonium”, made at the Hotel Chelsea in 1973 by Harry Smith.

Insert prints an introductory note by Charters, Ginsberg’s “Explanation of First Blues” (a reprint of his introduction to “First Blues”, item #82), and the music notation to four songs, including “CIA Dope Calypso” (a popular one at his live performances).
