A large handbill announcing a benefit for the Living Theatre at the Pauley Ballroom, UC Berkeley, August 19 (1971).

Printed in mauve on white stock. 31.7x21.5cm. Designed by Drew Andersen at Avian Design.

As well as the four poets, the benefit for the Living Theatre (imprisoned for several months during their tour of Brazil) also featured the Magic Theater, Saul Landau (“Filmmaker of Torture in Brazil”), and the Cockettes, who appeared last and performed “Pearls Over Shanghai”.

The gig, presented by ASUC [Associated Students of the University of California] and produced by Berkeley Barb photographer Harold Adler, raised $2000 for the Living Theatre’s defence fund.

Fine.
