Jack Shoemaker (Counterpoint Press) began his career as a bookseller at The Unicorn Bookshop in Santa Barbara in 1965, corresponding with Gary Snyder, Robert Duncan, and Richard Brautigan, among others, and later managed other influential literary bookshops, including Serendipity and Sand Dollar, both in Berkeley.
The CD features a recording of Ginsberg’s last major project, a collaboration with Paul McCartney, Philip Glass and others on a musical adaptation of his 1995 poem, “The Ballad of the Skeletons”.
