A Man Who Beat The Horses Can Do Anything…
Sudbury, MA: Water Row Press, 1986. Broadside printing a short text by Charles Bukowski and illustrated with a portrait of the author by Robert Crumb.
One of 50 numbered copies SIGNED by Bukowski and Crumb (Bukowski has added his characteristic drawing of a little man with dog), from a total edition of 300.
46x30.5cm. Printed in black and brown inks on cream coloured paper stock by the Tabula Rasa Press, Morro Bay, California.
Bukowski first met Crumb in Los Angeles, shortly after Crumb drew for Bukowski’s story, “Bop Bop Against That Curtain”, published in Arcade - The Comics Revue No. 3 in 1975 (Bukowski apparently told him “I like your comics, kid, you’re very good, just stay away from cocktail parties”).
Crumb’s portrait was based on photographs of Bukowski taken on his wedding day in August 1985 (to his second wife, Linda Lee Beighle), when he wore a new pinstripe suit, snakeskin shoes and a floral tie for the occasion.
Slight toning to extremities; miniscule loss to lower left edge; slight crease to upper left corner; o/w about Near Fine.
