Silver gelatin print. 30.2x24.1cm. Printed later. SIGNED by the photographer in the lower margin, and again in pencil on the verso, along with his studio stamps and a caption by Claire Parry. Fine.

The image, which appears on page 75 in Chapman’s book, “The Beat Hotel”, shows Burroughs looking into the middle distance with an impenetrable expression, referred to in the pencilled caption with a quote attributed to Allen Ginsberg: “visage inexpressif impassible Sherlock Holmes”.
