LOVEBOOKS PRINTED LETTERHEAD.

White paper stock. 26x20.5cm. Printed in blue by Binn Tivy and headed “Lovebooks Limited Printers Publishers and Stationers”.

Miles and Hoppy first conceived the idea of creating a company to publish alternative poetry and underground texts around the time of the Royal Albert Hall reading, and Lovebooks Limited was incorporated soon afterwards, on June 24, 1965.

Company directors were Miles and Hoppy, with an office registered at 20 Fitzroy Square and Michael Henshaw appointed as company secretary (Henshaw, London’s hip accountant, specialised in “difficult cases involving creative people”, and as well as establishing Lovebooks Limited for Miles and Hoppy, his clients included Arnold Wesker’s Centre 42, William Burroughs, Alexander Trocchi, RD Laing, Joe Tilson, Pauline Boty, and, when he was in the country, Allen Ginsberg).
