DARAZT: AN ANTHOLOGY.

London: Lovebooks Ltd., July (stated) 1965. First edition. Narrow 4to. Stapled wrps. with printed flaps, 24pp. Ed. Miles. One of 500 numbered copies (this one unnumbered).

SIGNED in pencil by both Miles and Hoppy on the contents page.

The second publication from Lovebooks Limited, a literary and visual anthology issued as a companion to Lee Harwood’s magazine Tzarad and intended, like Long Hair magazine that followed, to appeal to the new underground constituency first seen at the Royal Albert Hall. It was proof read on June 17, then hand-set by Binn Tivy and printed by him ‘after hours’ at the printing company that employed him.

Contents include the first version of “Who Is the Walks beside You Written 3rd?” by William Burroughs, a Tangier three-column style piece “moving at different speeds” (5pp.); three collages “about Sex Suppression and Repression etc.” by Miles; Hoppy’s Bill Brandt-inspired nude photographs of Gala Mitchell (an actress and model who lived at Hoppy’s place on Westbourne Terrace); and a revised version of Lee Harwood’s long poem, “Cable Street”.

Cream wrappers faintly creased, with light soiling, o/w Very Good plus.

Together with: two unbound sheets, differing slightly in print quality, each one printing a collage by Miles and three of Hoppy’s photographs.
