Young London: Permissive Paradise.

London: George G. Harrap & Co., 1969. First edition. Blue cloth. Sm. folio.

A photo-documentary containing 91 full-page b/w images of London’s youth culture and street fashions, many of them shot in Kensington and Chelsea (the front cover photograph depicts a young woman on Kensington Church Street, viewed from inside Biba’s shop window as she looks in, and the back cover shows two young women pictured against a large backdrop of the IT logo). Ron Wood, Donovan, Lulu, Tariq Ali, Julie Felix, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards all appear, though none of them are identified by name.

An introductory essay by Heather Cremonesi celebrating “our young pop revolution” precedes Robert Bruce’s less sympathetic response: “Frank Habicht has photographed the truth - and it wouldn’t be hard to call it depraved. Paradise? More like a vision of hell.”

Very Good plus in dw., which is chipped and worn along the upper edges and shows some loss to the upper left corner of the lower panel.
